In general, there
shall be the following standing committees, unless their existence
is not deemed necessary by the Board of Trustees:
Executive Committee
The Executive
Committee shall consist of the Officers of the Board. The Chair of
such committee shall be the President of the Board.
The Executive
Committee shall be responsible for matters delegated to it by the
Board, and shall take action between Board meetings, exercising all
the powers of the Board of Trustees, such action to be reported to
the Board of Trustees for ratification. Committee meetings will be
held as needed.
Finance Committee
The Chair of such
committee shall be the Treasurer.
The Finance Committee
shall manage all fiscal matters for the organization as follows:
1. Prepare annual
budget for fiscal year and present it to the Board of Trustees for
approval;
2. Set dues and fees
and determine policy relating to changes and exceptions to such
policy.
3. Determine that
books and records of the organization are kept in accordance with
sound accounting practices;
4. Monitor
expenditures and advise the appropriate person when expense
categories have been fully expended; receive requests for
non-budgeted expenditures and increases in budget line items and
recommendations on such to the Board. (All non-budgeted
expenditures shall be approved by the Board.)
Community
Relations Committee
This committee shall
supply speakers and other representatives of the organization for
meetings of local groups; prepare brochures and advertisements for
the organization; develop publicity about the organization in the
press and meet with representatives of other organizations and of
the Township of South Orange Village
Program Committee
This committee shall
plan all programs of the organization and arrange for their
implementation.
Fundraising
Committee
This committee is
responsible for all fundraisers.
Planning and
Development Committee
This committee is
responsible for developing long range goals and establishing plans
to meet such goals.
Historical and
Preservation Committee
This committee is
responsible for collecting information on data and monitoring
preservation efforts in the Township of South Orange Village. It
will aid in historical and preservation efforts through the
collection of written and oral materials which will be made
available to residents of South Orange and through the dissemination
of information to residents of the community.
Nominating
Committee
1. This committee
shall consist of three members of the Board elected by the Board as
a whole.
2. This committee
shall present a slate of trustees to the entire Board at its May
meeting. The slate of trustees shall be published in a notice
announcing the May meeting of the Board of Trustees 30 days prior to
said meeting.
Membership
Committee
This committee shall
be responsible for reviewing and approving or rejecting all
membership applications and for reviewing the qualifications of
current members for continuing membership
Interorganizational Committees
The Board of Trustees may, at its discretion, create or participate in, such
interorganizational committees as it deems appropriate to deal with matters of
interest that that extend beyond the interests of the Society alone. The Board
of Trustees shall specifically mandate its interest in such interorganizational
committees and send representatives to such committees. Only representatives
sent from this Society need be members of this Society. Such representatives
shall be appointed by the President. The Board of Trustees shall act on all
recommendations of such committees as necessary.
